Today’s quotable quip:

Logan finds a piece of paper on the sofa next to where I’m sitting. He picks it up and says “Mommy, what’s this, is this an email?”

Today’s quotable quip:

“Ok. Mommy, you take a shower. I’ll go get my camera.” Lex - age 4 - said from the OTHER side of the shower curtain today while I was bathing. No, he did not get his camera into the shower. Fear not.

“When I was a kid…” (insert rest of story here) Lex - age 4. This precedes many stories I’ve been told by Lex today.

Outrageous

If you know me at all, you know I’m not one to get involved in politics or anything of the sort. But today….wow…my friend Gina showed me an article she’d read. Read it here.

Let me show you the first line just to get you interested:

An international organization promoting families says California families have no choice but to abandon the public school system after Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a new “anti-discrimination” bill into law, effectively making terms like “mom” and dad” obsolete.

Not enough for you? Please read the rest of the article. I’m totally outraged.

Lex Reads

You just can not understand how much this child reads (age 3.75) until you sit down and listen to him. Today he was reading to me “Green Eggs and Ham” fairly easy for him but still thrills me to NO end to listen to him read.

New photos anyone?

Woohoo! I’ve started another project to never keep up with!! Aren’t you excited?

For the brief time that it stays updated, you can see photos of the boys at my new Flickr site!

Kids make us say the stupidest things. Have you ever noticed?

The other day the boys were playing in the tub. They have a million and a half bath toys, but their favorite things to play with are the tupperware drinking cups we use to wash their hair. They were laughing and splashing and playing around when this came out of my mouth: “Boys! If you don’t stop drinking out of those cups I’m going to have to take them away from you!

Tonight Caley made us the yummiest dinner. We had BBQ baby back ribs, BBQ country style ribs, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob and broccoli. It looked and smelled divine. We all loaded up our plates and dug into our favorite parts. For Logan and Lex this was the………BROCCOLI! Yes, my boys are back on a veggie kick. They didn’t want ribs, potatoes, corn or anything except the broccoli.

After Logan’s fourth or fifth dive into the broccoli bowl I had to say, “Logan! No more broccoli until you eat the rest of your dinner!! No chocolate pudding unless you eat the rest of what is on your plate!”

The things kids make us say.

Ya know that commercial from a year or two ago where the kid is playing with his raincheck? Well, today after nap, Logan discovered the wet washcloth still on the table from lunchtime. He proceeded to wash with it, ‘washing’ himself from head to toe. Then it became his bandaid for all his booboos, then Lex’s bandaid, then Jake’s bandaid (our dog). Then Logan had the washcloth on his head and he was suddenly “SOoooo tired, Mommy” that Lex had to go get him some pillows. Logan proceeded to lie down on the pillows with said washcloth still on his head. We’re pushing 30 minutes here and the boys are STILL playing with a WET WASHCLOTH.

My kids are I N S A N E. Have I said that lately?!?

Lex has been doing awesome with potty training. He’s pretty much completely ‘peepee’ trained. I still diaper him at naps and night time, but he stays dry mostly every day during waking hours. He tells me when he needs to go and we run to the bathroom.

This morning we were having our usual lazy morning routine {aka hadn’t changed diapers yet or gotten out of PJs}. After we’d been up for about 45 mins Lex suddenly said he needed to go peepee. So we ran to the bathroom. I was shocked when I took off his diaper and it was DRY!! The last time I’d taken him to the bathroom was as we were getting ready for bed last night around 8pm! We’re talking over 12 hours of dryness! Typically Lex is just SOAKED when he gets up in the morning. I’ve never actually weighed his diapers, but they’re heavy {probably not 5lbs, but you get the idea}. Today’s diaper was light as a feather.

I praised Lex profusely and he was extremely proud of himself. I don’t expect this to be an accomplishment every night {yet} but it was a step I sure didn’t expect yet!

Peanut Buttery Goodness

Oh my goodness, we made the most sinful snack this afternoon. My friend Gina has told me about Peanut Butter Popcorn before but I’d never made it. She shared the recipe with me today so the bubs and I made some. All I can say is YUM!!

Peanut Butter Popcorn {recipe}

1 bag of microwave popcorn (plain or butter flavored)
1/4 cup peanut butter (we used chunky)
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup light corn syrup

Pop corn and set aside. Mix peanut butter, sugar and corn syrup in a saucepan. Heat over medium heat until dissolved and starting to bubble, stirring often. Pour over popped corn, mix well and enjoy.

Every once in awhile I make the mistake of asking this question. “What do you want for dinner, bubbas?” Inevitability the answer is ‘cheeseburgers’ {from the place with the big M outside}. But today when I asked the age old question Lex replied “I know Mommy!!” He then ran into the kitchen to start dinner. This is what I saw when I walked in. ————–>

Well good grief. How could I resist making such an easy dinner…one that I knew they’d EAT and we wouldn’t have to fight over. So that’s what we had for dinner. Caley had come home from work exhausted and not feeling well and had gotten himself sent to bed already. So (as I guess it is in most households) if Daddy isn’t eating, Mommy doesn’t wanna cook. We had PB&J, apples, milk and Dill Pickle chips. Good dinner.

P.S. Thanks Tom, for the wonderful suggestion to use Windows Live Writer for my blog posts. This is my first post with it and I’m already in love.
